Saturday 1 April, 2-5pm, Cottesloe Room

In conjunction with the National Theatre’s Bright Young Tings exhibition, the GLC Story project presents a workshop about black feminist theatre during GLC period 1981-86, focusing on the development of the Theatre of Black Women. How can we access the archive relating to black theatre and performance and GLC funded projects, and what can we learn from them? Through a mix of presentations, small group discussion and interactive exercises with archive materials we will explore questions such as: how are contemporary theatre practitioners/artists funded today? How has the legacy of black feminist theatre developed? And how might current theatre practitioners go about archiving their own work for future audiences?

Tickets are available from the National Theatre priced £25/£20/£7.50; please email us at info@glcstory.co.uk if the ticket price would prevent you from attending as we would like to make the event as accessible as possible.
